Meters, Testers
When it comes to your grow system knowledge leads to success. Water and soil meters are necessary in order to have the information required for the optimum plant growth.
In order to
stay informed about what going on in your grow you must have the correct tools.
Here in the meters and testers category you will find the tools you need to
measure TDS, EC, PPM and pH. Some take specialized measurements and others are
all-in-one units.
TDS (Total
Dissolved Solids) meters measure the conductivity of solutions and measured in
two different fashions, PPM and EC.
EC
(Electrical Conductivity) Pure water does not have electrical conductivity. As
a grower adds nutrients or supplements to their water conductivity rises
resulting in a unit of measurement used to test nutrient levels.
PPM (Parts
Per Million) is a less accurate measurement of TDS but is widely used in North
America. Meters use different scales to measure PPM. When discussing your PPM
readings it is important to know your conversion scale in order to speak
accurately.
pH meters
(potential hydrogen) measure whether water or soil is acidic, neutral or
alkaline. Neutral is considered 7.0, below 7 is acidic and above is considered
more alkaline.
